The Fogelman College of Business & Economics has a formal undergraduate and graduate internship program, incorporating on-the-job learning in its academic environment.
Internship education is developed through a cooperative arrangement between the University and a business organization for the purpose of providing students with the opportunity to supplement academic instruction with practical, realistic job experience. This new opportunity will provide qualified junior, senior, and/or graduate business students with various forms of job experience in their academic major.
Internships increase the ability of the participating students to function effectively once they enter the world of work, and to improve their opportunity to make a more accurate decision about career choices. The total experience is coordinated and supervised by the University and the cooperating firm.
Interns can be assigned short or long term projects or assist in the daily operations of a department. Interns generally work 15 to 20 hours per week, depending on a company's need. Most positions are paid at a rate determined by the participating company.
Academic departments from which interns are available include the following:
- Accountancy
- Economics
- Finance
- Human Resource Management
- Insurance
- International Business
