At the undergraduate level our faculty strives to provide a broad-based undergraduate management education that integrates a strong general education and comprehensive business curriculum with management courses that emphasize breadth of understanding in the areas of strategy development, human resource management, communications, and hospitality management. Specifically, we offer a BBA degree with concentrations in either Management or Hospitality and Resort Management (see the link to the Wilson School for more on the latter). The program is intended to prepare students with a basic understanding of management concepts, theories, and principles that are useful in all types of organizations. This program is intended to develop general knowledge and skills in management that are relevant today and will continue to be important in the future. Students majoring in management often seek employment opportunities in the less technical business areas (e.g., administration, service, hospitality, and not-for-profit) or in the specific sub-discipline of Human Resource Management.
At the master’s level we provide critical courses in the MBA, Executive MBA, International MBA, and Master of Science programs, which support career advancement in management for both students with technical and non-technical backgrounds and interests.
At the Ph.D. level we provide a rigorous research-oriented management concentration with options in either Strategy or Organization Behavior/Human Resource Management. Our Ph.D. graduates have attained successful careers at a variety of research universities and well-regarded small universities and colleges. Representative placements have been at Oregon State, Wichita State, Ole Miss, North Texas, Akron, Cleveland State, Iona, Lander College, Christian Brothers, UNC Charlotte, Murray State, and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
