The finance program provides basic concepts, principles and analytical tools essential for making financial decisions. These decisions may be made within corporations, financial institutions such as banks, brokerage firms, insurance companies, and real estate management. Most concepts are also valuable to the individual in personal and small business decision making.
At the undergraduate level the department offers three concentrations: finance, risk management and insurance, and real estate. The finance concentration concentrates on decisions concerning stocks, bonds, fixed-income securities, derivatives, foreign exchange, capital markets, capital budgeting and financial management of corporations.
The concentration in risk management and insurance includes study in the areas of investments, corporate finance, financial institutions, principles of insurance, risk management, property and liability insurance, and life and health insurance.
The concentration in real estate includes corporate finance, financial institutions, principles of real estate, appraisal, real estate finance and real estate law.
At the masters level, the department supports the finance requirements of the MBA, XMBA and IMBA programs as well as offering a Master of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.
